As I mentioned, Lewandowski might as well have invoked the “Disneyland privilege” which has as much credibility/validity as a claim of executive privilege.
Thank you for the kind words, Delilah. Successfully cross-examining a hostile witness takes practice, discipline and patience. I thought Representatives Hank Johnson and Karen Bass did a nice job. Johnson developed the fact that Trump dictated to Lewandowski a very important ...
Love it, Jo! Music grabbed me in the late 60s and never let go. I’ll admit, I’m a stone-cold music junkie, not to mention aspiring singer. Give me a karaoke mic and crank up “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone” and it’s on (though it’s not pretty).
Rosie, you really think Trump a “mediocre man”? I’m not sure he could reach mediocre with an extension ladder. IMO, Trump is no kind of man.
Exactly. Yemen’s Houthi rebels claim they did it. Is that true OR are they taking credit to raise their profile and create a false impression of their capabilities?Let’s see, what other examples can we think of where someone falsely takes credit for another’s achievements . . .
@GIowing0rb @glennkirschner2 Yes, Some group in Yemen said they did it, but someone said that isn't true because of the drone's flight path. What flight path? Has any official expert been in front of the American people showing the flight path? No, they haven't. Not yet. So, did Yemen really do it?
Strange, indeed. How is it that 10 drones in a coordinated attack could not be detected and stopped by Saudi Arabia’s defenses? Was this an oil-price manipulation by Saudi Arabia? Before any investigation was conducted, before any reliable evidence was developed . . .
@glennkirschner2 We think there's something strange about this Saudi attack. People are jumping on the bandwagon that Iran attacked the oli storage w/out a single piece of evidence. Drone experts haven't definitively said what path was flown to attack. No one has explained anything.
Trump won’t comply with subpoenas from Congress but he WILL comply with military orders from “the Kingdom.” The ill-advised OLC memo saying a sitting president can’t be indicted should be trashed & Trump should be arrested for his mountain of crimes . . . before it’s too late.
A “higher authority” told the Director of National Intelligence to violate the law. Hmmm . . . could it have been “The Chosen One”?
He should sue for “liable”? Um...don’t you mean “libel”? Should he also sue for “deformation” (defamation) and “slender” (slander). Also, the DOJ “should come to his rescue”? Really? Separate powers much? You know, I’m starting to think the president is not that bright ...
And these are absolutely credible allegations. I know Max Stier, one of the witnesses named in the NYT article. There is no doubt in my mind he’s telling the truth about what he witnessed Kavanaugh do. Congress needs to investigate.
There must be a full Congressional investigation to determine whether someone, and if so who, gave orders that kept the FBI from investigating credible allegations & speaking to witnesses who reached out to them. We were told this was a full investigation.
As Lawrence Tribe @tribelaw says (below) an Attorney General can be impeached just as a president can be impeached. Sadly, the only other way to dislodge this corrupt AG would be for the president to fire him. But why in the world would Trump fire his protector? @tribelaw https://twitter.com/urgentfacts/status/1172835266232561670
Morning All. Hope you’ll have a listen to our discussion about Andrew McCabe, the grand jury and the overreach (not to mention vindictiveness) of the Trump/Barr alliance.
It’s only a matter of time before the walls come tumbling down. Trump will fall. Then, we reform and rebuild.
NEW: Schiff is hinting at a potentially massive whistleblower complaint against Trump or other senior WH officials coming from an intelligence official. But in a statement, accompanied by a subpoena, Schiff says it's been illegally withheld form Congress.
Expect a special @talkingfedspod Now! episode very soon. Lots of Q's, but the Feds (inc long time DC prosecutor @glennkirschner2) bring to bear lots of experience to assess what happened, surmise what's going on now inside DOJ, and analyze what happens next and what it means.
Just had a great chat with friends Barb, Mimi and Harry about the McCabe cliffhanger: will the grand jurors indict or will they act as a check & balance against what may be Trump/Barr overreach and vindictiveness . . . stay tuned.
When big news breaks, we try to jump in with a quick analysis combining our collec viewpts as prosecutors. @Mimirocah1 @glennkirschner2 @BarbMcQuade and I have just taped a TF Now! special episode on McCabe, n/w/s that what happened is none too clear yet. Watch for it here soon!
If (and it’s a big “if”) the grand jury refused to indict McCabe, it will represent a direct rebuke of Bill Barr’s quest to implement Trump’s vindictive, abusive and entirely unpresidential agenda against his perceived enemies.
Just in: Andrew McCabe’s legal team says in a new letter to Jesse Liu that based on their conversations with the US Attorney’s office in DC yesterday, “it is clear that no indictment has been returned” against McCabe by the grand jury.
This is a nice victory for any citizen who cares that the president of the United States violates the US Constitutuion every single day in his relentless pursuit of personal enrichment.
Please see my opinion piece in today’s Washington Examiner about DC Council’s dangerous proposed law. Criminal justice reform is LONG overdue. But not all reform efforts are created =. Some are extremely damaging to victims and dangerous to DC residents.
He’s deconstructing gov’t, undermining public safety, encouraging division, inspiring violence, destroying our law enforcement institutions. He’s harming our people. This is why Trump will be impeached, voted out & prosecuted. The trifecta of justice. Then, we reform & rebuild.
Trump has turned our government into the most disgusting reality show imaginable . . . one that would make the cast of Jersey Shore blush.
I frequently hear people say there are no heroes today. No one will standup & speak out against a criminal, unfit president. Men like GEN Mattis & GEN Kelly won’t. Instead, they join a corp. that profits from the confinement of migrant children. But wait-remember Tricia Newbold?
As much as I admire General James Mattis’ career and dedicated service to our country, I contend he has one last battle to fight for the American people. General Mattis, you have seen something, please, for the sake of our dying democracy, say something.
Here’s the @washingtonpost quote from McCarthy and Ryan. This is supremely dangerous to our national security and flat out unamerican. And note that Paul Ryan “swore the Republicans present to secrecy.” Let’s call this what it is - traitorous. https://twitter.com/1DLowther/status/1171813387510013953
